Goals have been hard to come by for Manchester United in what has been a season to forget for the Red Devils.
Their attacking troubles have been further highlighted boasting the fifth-worst attack in the Premier League this season, having scored just 37 in 31 games.
18 of which have been scored or set up by their all-rounder and ever-energetic Bruno Fernandes.
Worryingly from a Manchester United standpoint, Wolves, who sit 17th have scored 43, and Matheus Cunha has proven to be their talisman, finding the back of the net 13 times this season.
That’s why, it’s no surprise, Ruben Amorim’s side are now interested.
Man United discuss Matheus Cunha move
GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed that Cunha has become a firm target for Manchester United as they look to bolster their front line.
Cunha joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2022, and has a £62.5m release clause on his contract.
However, GMS sources have been told that Manchester United will look to structure a different type of deal should they move for the Wolves key man.
With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling in front of goal this season, Ruben Amorim will be desperate to bring in reinforcement, with Cunha and Ipswich’s Liam Delap on the radar.
Player | Premier League Goals |
Matheus Cunha | 13 |
Bruno Fernandes | 8 |
Amad Diallo | 6 |
Alejandro Garnacho | 4 |
Rasmus Hojlund | 3 |
Joshua Zirkzee | 3 |
Pundits often praise the Amorim’s honesty, and he has made it very clear that big changes are needed for Manchester United to get to where they want to be.
Roy Keane is a big Cunha fan
Speaking ahead of Wolves’ FA Cup tie against rivals West Brom last season, Roy Keane spoke very highly of the Wolves forward.
Speaking on ITV Sport’s coverage of West Brom against Wolves in the FA Cup earlier this year, Keane said: “He’s a talented player. He’s lively. Every time he gets the ball you think something’s going to happen.
Keane continued: “Really exciting player, he has the ability to beat players. He’s got that pace, he looks a very natural player off the cuff. I like the look of him, big player. They’ve got a lot of very good players, Wolves.”
It remains to be seen where the highly rated Brazilian ends up in the summer, but it does appear likely that he will be on the move at the end of the season.
