Tottenham Hotspur fought back to secure a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in their Europa League quarter-final first-leg in North London.
Spurs fell behind after just six minutes when Hugo Ekitike made his way into the final third before firing into the bottom right corner from outside the box.
However, Tottenham equalised in impressive fashion when James Maddison – who got caught out for the opener – made amends with an assist for Pedro Porro.
Maddison dragged the ball back for Porro to flick into the back of the net with an instinctive backheel finish in the 27th minute.
Tottenham went from strength to strength , hitting the woodwork three times and registering some big chances, but ultimately had to settle for a draw.
Lucas Bergvall was especially impressive on the night and Spurs fans had plenty to say about the young Swede during and after the game.
Tottenham fans liken Lucas Bergvall to Luka Modric and tip him for bright future
Tottenham fans were stunned by Bergvall’s performance and tipped him to become a superstar in years to come.
One fan wrote on X: “I’ve never been more excited about a player than I am with Lucas Bergvall, genuinely the next biggest young talent since Bale, Modric, Kane and Dele.”
Another wrote: “Bergvall with a crucial sliding interception in the box. He’s our future. I hope he stays long and continues to improve.”
The praise kept coming, with one fan saying: “Bergvall is our new Modric!
“Superb and will be worth over £100m in a couple of seasons but if Spurs show some ambition keep him build around him and win!”
Another wrote: “Bergvall will be exceptional. Get a proper manager in and he could be exceptional for us!”
Another said: “Bergvall played like early days Modric for us. He is a top-quality baller and improving each passing day.
“If we show no ambition, he will be off to a bigger club in the near future.”
How Lucas Bergvall fared for Tottenham against Eintracht Frankfurt
Bergvall has shown immense development this season. He was getting outmuscled early on in the campaign but is now imposing himself on games and pulling the strings.
The 25-yard strike which came off the bar would’ve been one of the goals of the season had it gone in, but despite his bad luck on that front, he nonetheless did well with his all-round display.
Postecoglou was coy when asked about Bergvall after the game, telling reporters: “He was great but the whole team was.”
Perhaps he doesn’t want to bring too much attention to a player who could well become the next Modric at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
