‘We’ve narrowed it down’ – Ange Postecoglou reveals leak inside Tottenham dressing room

If Ange Postecoglou wants a change in career, a life as a private investigator may be on the cards.

In his press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wolves, the Tottenham boss claimed there was a mole within the club who had leaked injury news.

It came to a head on Thursday when news of forward Wilson Odobert’s hamstring issues were revealed prior to Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

Odobert was named on the bench for the clash but remained an unused substitute.

Postecoglou hopes Odobert’s hamstring injury will be the last leak to come from the club as the Australian believes he’s pinpointed who is behind it all.

“There’s no doubt we’ve got a leak inside the club,” Postecoglou said.

“I don’t know why. It doesn’t help us. We’ve narrowed it down. I’ve got a fair idea where it’s coming from.

“It certainly doesn’t help us on game days. It’s sometimes half-truths and sometimes more.

“You’d like to think that everyone within our camp is working with us rather than against us.”

Leaks aside, Postecoglou was left to rue Tottenham’s misfortune in front of goal against their German rivals on Thursday evening.

The north London outfit registered ten shots, six of which were on target, but only got past Frankfurt gloveman Kaua Santos just once via Pedro Porro.

Tottenham even had a last-gasp chance via a header from Micky Van de Ven, but Santos clawed it away with a fingertip save.

It left Postecoglou believing not even divine intervention would help his team put the ball in the back of the net more than once.

“I’m resigned to the fact that the football gods have got their eyes elsewhere this year,” Postecoglou said.

“They’re obviously busy with other clubs and other managers so whatever we get, we’re going to have to do it without them this year.”

Postecoglou and his side must now shift focus to Sunday’s clash against Wolves, who have won three games in a row.

A loss for Tottenham could see them drop as low as 16th should Everton and West Ham, who are both on 35 points, beat Nottingham Forest and Liverpool respectively.

In a blow for Postecoglou, the trip to Molineux is too soon for star forward Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski has not played since February 26

“Kulusevski has trained today with the players who didn’t play last night,” Postecoglou said.

“He looked really good. He’s not available this weekend and he won’t start on Thursday because he’s been out for so long, but he’s looking good.”
