Man City produced an impressive comeback at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Alan Shearer believed Pep Guardiola picked the wrong team ahead of the Premier League champions’ contest with Crystal Palace and that looked to be the case early on.
The Eagles would storm into a 2-0 lead within the opening 25 minutes with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton running the show throughout the first half in Manchester.
After the half-hour mark, things began to change as Man City pulled the game back to 2-2 before the break and in the second half, Guardiola’s men impressed on the way to a 5-2 victory.
City’s win was inspired by one man and TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist believes he witnessed ‘greatness’ on Saturday afternoon at the Etihad Stadium.
Kevin de Bruyne stars in Man City win over Crystal Palace
It was reported at the start of the month that Kevin de Bruyne will be leaving Man City at the end of the season after spending the last 10 years in Manchester.
The Belgian was up for City’s game with Crystal Palace on Saturday with former Man City Women’s star Ellen White stating that the midfielder was a man ‘on a mission’ as he looks to help the Premier League champions secure Champions League football for next season.
“De Bruyne is on a mission. He loves Man City and wants the team to do well for the fans,” White said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
McCoist would take the praise for De Bruyne a step further with the TNT Sports commentator stating that he witnessed greatness from the Man City star on Saturday.
“Fantastic performance from Kevin de Bruyne. He has been superb. A joy to watch,” McCost said on TNT Sports via BBC. “We’ve watched a bit of greatness today.”
The numbers show how much influence the 33-year-old had on Man City’s win against Crystal Palace as the midfielder showed that he has not lost his magical touch yet.
