Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 stalemate by rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
The first half ended goalless, with the hosts’ best chance arguably coming just before the interval when Thomas Muller flicked a pass into the path of Harry Kane, but BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was equal to the Englishman’s effort.
Dortmund made the perfect start to the second half when Maximilian Beier led a counter-attack before crashing the box to get on the end of Julian Ryerson‘s cross to the left post.
However, Vincent Kompany‘s side scored a deserved equaliser just after the hour mark when Serge Gnabry and Muller both helped set Raphael Guerreiro up for a strike inside the box.
Gnabry would then net himself minutes later when he weaved through BVB’s defence before finishing into the bottom-right corner, but Waldemar Anton scored his team’s second after Urbig parried the ball into his path following a corner.
The game ended level but Bayern are in first place with 69 points, while Dortmund are eighth with 42 points and remain in the race for Europe.
SPORTS MOLE’S VERDICT

Kompany will be satisfied with a point given his side are still six points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen with just five games remaining.
Given their goal difference of 54 is significantly more than Leverkusen’s figure of 29, Bayern will likely have to drop points in three matches to lose the title.
As for Dortmund, just four points separate them from fifth-placed Mainz 05, who currently occupy the division’s Europa League qualification spot.
