Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund…are you ready?
Bayern, Upamecano in “intensive” talks (Sport Bild via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich and injured center-back Dayot Upamecano are reportedly engaged in “intensive talks” per Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl:
Bayern remain in ‘intensive’ contract talks with Dayot Upamecano. The club is helping the defender during his recovery process – and an extension could be agreed before his comeback from injury.
Upamecano is expected to command a large raise (some are speculating he could double his wages), which could potentially be an issue. However, this report indicates that things have progressed.
If we had to guess, we would say an announcement at the end of this month or in early May is a likely scenario.

- A very brief Entertainment Rundown update.
Chelsea has big sales in mind (ESPN)
Chelsea FC is looking to sell Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku this summer:
Chelsea are looking to offload both Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku in the summer, says The Sun. Mudryk, 24, has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association after failing a drugs test and, amid the winger’s poor form since his €70m move in 2023, the Blues are ready to move him on. Nkunku, 27, will receive more interest, with Man United and PSG linked, but the club will be lucky to recoup the €60m they spent to bring the France forward in from RB Leipzig that same year.
Both Mudryk and Nkunku have been linked to Bayern Munich in recent weeks.

The 18-year old wants to take the next steps towards professional football. His decision will therefore depend on where he is offered the best opportunities for his development. Chávez’s Bayern contract expires this summer.

Bidding war for Huijsen on tap (ESPN)
Bayern Munich is reportedly among the teams interested in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, but if the Bavarians want the youngster, they will have to outbid Real Madrid, Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Per the latest news, Real Madrid is likely balking at Huijsen’s release clause:
Premier League clubs look set to battle for the signature of AFC Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, with Real Madrid opting against making a move. The Athletic reports that Madrid feel the Spain international’s £50m release clause is too expensive for a 19-year-old. Huijsen, who this week refused to deny he’d be interested in a move to the Bernabeu, is now likely to stay in England — and he won’t be short of suitors. The report states that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will lead the race, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur also interested — and all five clubs have spoken to the player’s representatives over recent days.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayern Munich 1-2 Inter Milan (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich hosted Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena for a Champions League showdown that just about everyone knew would be tough.
Inter Milan proved to be extremely strong — strong enough to pull out a deflating 2-1 victory courtesy of some extremely inefficient play from Bayern Munich’s attack and bad decision-making from the coaching staff and backline.
Inter Milan was even good enough to hold off the bit of #MüllerMagic that Bayern Munich received in the second half. Let’s dive into this one on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and our thoughts on two of the selections.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions. Bayern Munich had its chances in the first half, but could not make good on them.
- Not even #MüllerMagic could save Bayern Munich from themselves.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match, including how the Bavarians can maintain focus against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday, while their Champions League life hangs in the balance.
