Andy Robertson has lifted the lid on how the Liverpool dressing room reacted to the news that Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Anfield until 2027.
Salah has ended speculation about his future by committing himself to Liverpool for another two seasons, despite interest from big-spending Saudi Pro League sides. And Robertson and the rest of the Reds players are delighted.
“A massive player,” Robertson, who is only under contract until 2026 himself, said. “A massive personality within our changing room, has been crucial to what we’ve done this season and many seasons before that.
“The fact he’s signing a new deal is pleasing for everyone in the club. I think everyone will be happy with it, no more so than Mo. I’ve just walked by him there and he has a big smile on his face.
“Hopefully that can continue. As his friend, I’m delighted for him. But as a player and as somebody that belongs to the club as well, I’m delighted that he’s here to stay.”
Salah has scored 32 goals this season and laid on 22 assists for his teammates so far. Against West Ham United this weekend, Liverpool will hope to edge another step closer to the Premier League title and the Egpytian could further strengthen his grip on the race for the Golden Boot.

“He’s massively important,” Robertson, who was speaking to the Reds’ official website, continued. “He’s our main man, he’s our talisman [with] the most goals, the most assists.
“He’s the most creative player for us on the park this season especially. His standards have been really high this season. For us as a team, he’s our key man. He’s our main man and it’s important to keep hold of these players when you have them, especially when you’re at a big club like Liverpool.
“For the team it’s massive, of course it is. We’re delighted that Mo will be here for the upcoming seasons playing that position and hopefully producing numbers like he has done this season.”

“Happy, of course,” Arne Slot said when he was asked about Salah in yesterday’s press conference. “He’s shown at this club for so many years in a row now how much value he has for the team [and] for the club.
“So, as like I assume all our fans and his teammates, we are very happy that he extended for two more years and hopefully he can show on Sunday again how important he has been for the whole season to us.”
Liverpool.com says: Salah staying always felt like the most likely outcome. He wanted to remain put and Liverpool couldn’t really afford to lose its best player. Thankfully, an agreement has been reached and the worries have gone!
