“I go back…” – Roy Keane calls out Man United player after his performance against Newcastle in sensational rant

Roy Keane brutally called out a Manchester United player after a dismal 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday.

United went in level at half-time after Alejandro Garnacho‘s equaliser cancelled out a fine strike from Sandro Tonali but conceded three goals in the second half.

Harvey Barnes bagged a brace, with Bruno Guimaraes rounding off the scoring to hand United a record-equalling 14th defeat of the season in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim’s men continue to struggle and United supporters demanded that Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen never play for the club again.

And former United captain Keane shared the same view in regards to Danish midfielder Eriksen, claiming he is no longer good enough to play for the club and should have already left.

Now 33, the former Spurs and Inter Milan man struggled to deal with the sheer power and energy in Newcastle’s midfield.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Keane said: “There’s players playing for Man United today, I go back to Eriksen, United’s midfielder. Not mobile. [He] can’t get around the pitch. Newcastle’s midfield was stronger, more powerful.

“They were getting stronger as the game was going on. Eriksen should have left United maybe one or two years ago. Are these good players? I think some of them are.

“But are they good enough for Man United? Absolutely not.”

Eriksen signed for United on a free in 2022 and has won both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, amassing more than 100 appearances.

He is out of contract in the summer and last month Eriksen suggested that he expects to leave United on a free transfer when June 30 rolls around, with no discussions around an extension.

“In my head, I’m prepared to find something new,” he told TV2.

“What that will be is not something I’ve decided yet. I haven’t heard anything, and when I don’t, I assume that the collaboration stops.

“That’s how I interpret it. Everyone knows that the contract expires, so I figure there’s only one way [it will go].”

United are back in action on Thursday when they take on Ligue One side Lyon in the Europa League quarter final second leg having drawn 2-2 in the first fixture last week.
