But Newcastle United still made the right choice, as during the same transfer window, the Magpies completed the signing of Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for around £63 million.

Their former target is now widely wanted around Europe, and his current club believe his sale could make history for them.

Eintracht Frankfurt now believe Hugo Ekitike could become the first player in their history to be worth 100 million euros, according to BILD.

Arsenal and Liverpool were in attendance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where they saw him score the opening goal against Spurs in the Europa League.

Newcastle United has been linked with Etitike since January 2022, although they instead opted for Aexander Isak which hasn’t turned out too badly for them.

Back then, Ekitike admitted he was open to joining Newcastle, however, he could not turn down a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Eventually, Etitike signed for PSG for £26 million in a move which didn’t quite work out for him, but now, playing in the Bundesliga, the striker is now almost triple that value.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen on Etitike and the striker now looked destined to move to England in the summer.

After losing Omar Marmoush to Manchester City, the Frenchman has really stepped up for the German club and could help them have a special season.

Frankfurt are in contention to qualify for the Champions League next season in the Bundesliga and will also fancy their chances of winning the Europa League.
