Leeds United and Burnley have been promoted back to the Premier League following the latter’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United.
The Burnley victory, secured with two Josh Brownhill goals, moved second-place Burnley an insurmountable eight points clear of Sheffield United, in third and who will compete in this season’s promotion play-offs, with two league matches remaining.

Scott Parker’s victory also secured promotion for Leeds United, who defeated Stoke City earlier on Monday — Daniel Farke’s side are top of the Championship (94 points), ahead of Burnley on goal difference.
Burnley return to the Premier League after one season away while Leeds are back in the top flight for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
The Yorkshire club spent three seasons in England’s top division between 2020 and 2023, initially promoted under head coach Marcelo Bielsa, who led them to a top-half finish in 2020-21.
They finished 17th, one place above the relegation zone, in 2021-22 before going down the following campaign.
Burnley have conceded just 15 league goals this season, with the Championship record of 30 goals against being jointly-held by Preston North End (2005-06) and Watford (2020-21).
The fewest goals conceded in any league season in England is the 15 that Chelsea conceded in the 2004-05 Premier League, although that was a 38-game season rather than the 46 in the Championship.
Burnley secured a record 12 successive league clean sheets earlier in the season, a run which lasted from December through to March.
This is the club’s second promotion to the Premier League in the space of three seasons, having won the Championship title in 2023 with 101 points under Vincent Kompany.
However, Kompany’s side won just five matches in the top flight and were relegated in 19th-place with 24 points.
Kompany was later appointed at Bayern Munich with Burnley confirming Parker as his replacement in July 2024.
