‘Look where you are!’ – talkSPORT hosts clash over whether Europa League success will save Ange Postecoglou

When Jamie O’Hara previously suggested Tottenham could finish 17th and still win the Europa League, he insisted he was ‘joking’.

But that is now a genuine possibility and it is one O’Hara believes would keep Ange Postecoglou in a job.

Postecoglou’s side progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League last week thanks to a 2-1 win on aggregate over Eintracht Frankfurt.

With a final four clash locked in against Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt, Tottenham supporters are immensely hopeful of another European final as they look to end their wait for a major trophy – which has been going on for 17 years.

The north London outfit’s European run is in complete contrast to where Tottenham sit in the Premier League table.

Ahead of Monday’s fixture against Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou’s side sit 15th on 37 points, only one point ahead of 17th-placed West Ham.

Had Tottenham not enjoyed such a deep run in Europe, it’s not a stretch to say Postecoglou’s time at the club would have been cut short.

But with the Australian now three games away from delivering Tottenham a trophy, it’s sparked an intriguing debate between talkSPORT hosts O’Hara and Jason Cundy.

So, does Postecoglou keep his job if Tottenham win the Europa amid the backdrop of an utterly dismal Premier League campaign?

O’Hara seemed to think it would be enough for Postecoglou to remain in his post, but Cundy disagreed.

“I don’t think he does,” Cundy said.

“Don’t know how that’s enough. The league form is your bread and butter.”

But Cundy disagreed[/caption]

O’Hara replied: “It’ll be one of the biggest things Spurs have ever done.”

But Cundy rightly reminded O’Hara of where the club lies in the table.

“Look at where you are, J” Cundy said.

Cundy added: “The league form, he’s not done enough to keep [his job], in my opinion.

“What’s wrong with him? He’s miserable. He’s always miserable.

“He’s always got an angst. He never smiles.”

Postecoglou and his troops will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host Nottingham Forest on Monday, live on talkSPORT.

They then travel to Anfield for a clash against Liverpool on Sunday before they take on Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final four days later.
