Marcus Rashford could reportedly snub Aston Villa and favor move to one of two Champions League semifinalists

Despite enjoying his time in Birmingham, Marcus Rashford could reportedly snub Aston Villa in favor of a move to one of two Champions League semifinalists.

Marcus Rashford has managed to revive his form during his loan spell at Aston Villa following a sudden departure from Manchester United midway through the 2024–25 season. While the England international has quickly become a fan favorite in Birmingham, reports suggest he may be eyeing a move elsewhere—with interest reportedly coming from two Champions League semifinalists.

Rashford joined Villa on a short-term deal through the end of the season, and under Unai Emery‘s leadership, the 27-year-old has regained confidence and form. His resurgence even earned him a recall to the England national team under head coach Thomas Tuchel. But despite Villa’s efforts to retain him, Rashford may be leaning toward a move to a bigger stage.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Rashford is open to joining either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Both clubs are in the Champions League semifinals and have long admired the forward. Though they were linked to him prior to his move to Villa, it was the Premier League club that made the most aggressive push to secure his services in January.

Since his arrival, Rashford has contributed 4 goals and 6 assists in 17 appearances, helping Aston Villa reach the Champions League quarterfinals and stay in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League. However, his next chapter could take him away from English football entirely.

Rashford likely to depart Manchester United this summer

While Rashford has had moments of brilliance at Manchester United, his tenure has also been marred by inconsistency and criticism from supporters. A product of the club’s academy, Rashford’s relationship with United appears to have deteriorated—especially following clashes with new manager Ruben Amorim.

Even with United struggling through one of their worst Premier League campaigns and lacking attacking depth, Amorim has opted to sideline Rashford, signaling that the forward no longer figures into the club’s long-term plans.

Selling Rashford could provide United with much-needed funds heading into a crucial summer transfer window. Aston Villa reportedly hold a £40 million option to make the deal permanent, but United are also exploring reinforcements of their own—most notably targeting Wolves striker Matheus Cunha.
