Liverpool can potentially become Premier League champions without kicking a ball tonight.

And the Reds are preparing for the possibility of winning the title, as they reportedly will gather at Anfield this evening.

Arne Slot‘s squad are going to watch Arsenal vs Crystal Palace together, with the result possibly sealing their glory.

Captain Virgil van Dijk hinted at him and his teammates meeting up, saying: “We could be [gathering]. I expect Arsenal to win at home, but if it doesn’t happen, then it would be nice for us all to be together.”

Liverpool now find themselves three points away from securing the Premier League title in Slot’s first year in charge.

They have been creeping towards the title for the majority of the season, but a 1-0 win over Leicester last time out saw them move to within touching distance.

The Reds are on the brink, and they are expected to seal the deal themselves on Sunday against Tottenham at Anfield.

But that clash could well turn out to be a celebration instead…

How Liverpool can win title tonight

Liverpool will secure the Premier League crown if Crystal Palace beat Arsenal at the Emirates this evening.

Defeat for the Gunners would mean they could only reach a maximum of 78 points, which is one less than the Reds have now.

The game will be live on talkSPORT with commentary coming from Nigel Adderley and former Chelsea defender Scott Minto.

If Mikel Arteta‘s men draw with Palace, then Liverpool only need a point in their next game against Tottenham on Sunday.

One more win for Slot’s Reds guarantees the club the trophy regardless of Arsenal’s remaining results.

The Gunners can reach a maximum of 81 points, so it leaves Slot’s men needing to reach 82 to win the title in his first year in charge.

Therefore, three more points wrap things up.

Should Arsenal win and Ange Postecoglou‘s Spurs then delay the celebrations further, May 4 away at Chelsea could be the day.

A win at Stamford Bridge would hand the Reds the title, if they have not already won it after Arteta’s side clash with Bournemouth.

Liverpool’s remaining games

  • Liverpool vs Tottenham – April 27
  • Chelsea vs Liverpool – May 4
  • Liverpool vs Arsenal – May 10
  • Brighton vs Liverpool – May 18
  • Liverpool vs Crystal Palace – May 25

Whenever their title is eventually confirmed, Liverpool are likely to get a guard of honour from all remaining opponents this season.

This would mean Arsenal, who look set to miss out on Premier League glory yet again, would perform the gesture for their rivals on May 10.

It’s not compulsory for teams to do so, but usually they do to show respect for the title-winners’ achievements.

It’s something that would hurt Arteta and his squad as they would have to applaud the team that beat them to the title.

If Liverpool slip up twice before that meeting with Arsenal on May 10, there’s potential for them to clinch it against the Gunners.

But it’s looking likely to be confirmed before that game.

One thing’s for sure: Slot’s side will lift the Premier League trophy on the final day against Crystal Palace if they clinch it.

And what an end that would be to the first season without Jurgen Klopp at the helm.
