Jose Mourinho tipped to snub European giants and take shock Premier League job instead

Jose Mourinho has been tipped to snub a huge club in favour of a shock return to the Premier League.

Mourinho is currently in charge of Fenerbahce, but his future has been the subject of intense scrutiny, with reports linking him with a move away from Turkey.

He joined the club last summer and was tasked with ending Galatasaray‘s dominance, having won back-to-back Super Lig titles.

But, as it stands, Fenerbahce are five points adrift of league leaders Galatasaray, who appear on course to make it three league titles in a row.

Mourinho could be tempted to leave his role at the end of the season and there’s no shortage of options.

Rangers are in need of a new permanent manager this summer following the dismissal of Philippe Clement.

Barry Ferguson is in charge until the end of the season, with the Scottish side linked with making a move for the 62-year-old.

However, talkSPORT host Alan Brazil believes Mourinho would rather join Leeds United over Rangers.

Sam Ellard said: “Mourinho has been linked with Leeds.”

Brazil replied: “You tell me that he [Mourinho] would fancy Rangers ahead of Leeds? No chance. He’d want Leeds.”

Ellard agreed: “He’d take a way back to the Premier League. Every day of the week.”

Despite guiding Leeds back to the Premier League, Daniel Farke could be sacked ahead of the new season.

There are concerns over Farke’s previous campaign in England’s top flight, with Leeds bosses thought to be considering a switch.

Mourinho has managed Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in the Premier League and has competed in the top half of the table, winning three league titles across his two spells at Stamford Bridge.

But if he was appointed by Leeds, then he could be faced with a relegation battle.

One thing’s for sure, the Portuguese has an enormous amount of experience in the Premier League, having managed some of the biggest clubs in England.

Mourinho, however, has opened the door to managing in Scotland, highlighting the league’s ‘passion’.

Asked whether the Glasgow clubs would be an attraction proposition, he replied: “In this moment, no, because I have a job that motivates me and a job that demands loyalty. But why not in the future?

“People can say that the Scottish league is a league of two teams, but it’s a league of passion. It’s a league of passion. And for me, passion in football is everything.”
