Chelsea enter transfer talks with Jamie Gittens as Borussia Dortmund asking price revealed

Chelsea have entered talks with Borussia Dortmund over the summer transfer of Jamie Gittens, talkSPORT understands.

The 20-year-old winger is under contract at Dortmund until 2028 and the German club value him at £35million.

A decreased role within Niko Kovac’s side may be the key factor behind a possible exit.

Earlier this season it seemed likely that Gittens would be a mainstay within the side as he continued to impress.

His performance against Real Madrid in October was one of note topped off with a goal.

He became the youngest English player to score against Real Madrid in the Champions League aged 20 years and 75 days.

But his 2025 has not been plain sailing under Kovac, who became head coach in January.

He has not played a full 90 minute match since the first month of the year and was an unused substitute in Dortmund’s last two matches.

In 44 games across all competitions he has 12 goals and five assists this campaign.

Another factor behind Gittens possibly moving to Chelsea is the possibility of Dortmund missing out on the Champions League next season.

They currently sit in sixth in the Bundesliga, which would earn them a spot in the Europa Conference League.

However, a top four spot is still within reach as fourth place SC Freiburg sit on 51 points, three more than Dortmund who have a superior goal difference.

And Chelsea will also need to secure a place in the Champions League – a task made easier by the UEFA coefficient giving the Premier League an extra spot.

A move to west London would mark his return to Chelsea, where Gittens briefly spent part of his youth career.

The youngster also played for Reading and later the Manchester City youth team until his move to Dortmund in 2020.

Gittens was refined in Germany and made his senior debut aged 17, with each season seeming like he was taking the steps to become a key first-team player.

Chelsea have a wealth of forwards but not necessarily on the left side where he can compete with Pedro Neto and teenager Tyrique George.
