Ahead of our FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest, we spoke to supporters from both teams to preview the Wembley clash.
City diehard Mike Hammond met up with Forest fan Kieran Hardcastle at the City Ground to look ahead to Sunday’s clash.
They discussed the cup run so far, with the Blues seeing off Salford City, Leyton Orient, Plymouth Argyle and AFC Bournemouth en route to the last four encounter while the Reds knocked out Luton Town, Exeter City, Ipswich Town and Brighton – with three of those ties won on penalties!
The pair also chat about their memories of City and Forest in Europe – Mark reminiscing on the never-to-be-forgotten 2023 Champions League final triumph in Istanbul and Kieran proudly recalling Forest’s back-to-back victories in the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 under Brian Clough and Peter Taylor.
They also discuss historic moments – Mark chatting passionately about the club’s rise under Pep Guardiola, our Treble triumph as well as insisting our run of seven straight FA Cup semi-finals is unlikely to be beaten any time soon.
Meanwhile, Kieran reminisces on Forest’s remarkable rise in the late 1970s and early 1980s, gaining promotion from the Second Division, then winning the First Division at the first time of asking as well as the League Cup, then the European Cup as well as a second successive League Cup before triumphing in the European Cup again the following year as well as the European Super Cup.
They finish the feature by giving their predictions for the big day ahead!
