Arne Slot praised his players and staff after Liverpool won their second title of the Premier League era but saved a special mention for his predecessor.
Liverpool eased to their 20th league title, comfortably beating Tottenham Hotspur to claim top spot in the Premier League for the first time since Jurgen Klopp steered them to the championship in 2019-20.
There were joyous scenes at Anfield after the match on Sunday and the Kop was in full voice for an emotional rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the champions’ famous anthem.
The Reds manager kept his white shirt on underneath a special commemorative ‘Champions 24/25’ Liverpool shirt and made his way to the middle of the pitch to speak to Jamie Redknapp, Daniel Sturridge and Sky Sports anchor David Jones.
“Arne, you’ve taken a very difficult job following a Liverpool legend obviously in Jurgen Klopp. How have you made it look so easy?” asked pundit and ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp after the match at Anfield.
“That’s… not only my job, that’s the job of the players who are standing here and the staff members standing over there, and the work Jurgen and Pepijn [Linders, Klopp’s assistant manager] left behind over here,” replied the first Dutch manager to win the Premier League.
“The culture of the team, the quality of the team, was outstanding. We all knew that.
“We started off really well and, yeah, it maybe helped a bit that [Manchester] City had a difficult spell which they haven’t had in five years, so maybe that helped us a bit as well.”

Klopp and Slot have produced a seamless handover at Liverpool and the mutual respect between the two Premier League-winning managers is clear.
The German went out of his way to get the Reds faithful behind Slot before he took the reins last year, even anointing his successor with a chant for the Kop to adopt.
Slot has made some changes to the way Liverpool prepare and play but was quick to acknowledge Klopp’s lasting impact on the team he inherited and took to a first league title in front of fans since 1989-90.
