The overpriced signings never clicked at Bayern.

Thomas Tuchel’s reign at Bayern Munich was short-lived, fractured, and arguably doomed from the start. After an ugly midseason exit from Chelsea, Tuchel was only unemployed for six months. Despite a reasonable amount of success, Julian Nagelsmann was dismissed by Bayern in March 2023 and immediately replaced by Tuchel.

Tuchel’s sole summer transfer window at Bayern consisted of him complaining about Bayern’s depth and getting zero assistance from the board. The club generated over €100M from player sales which was primarily used on acquiring Harry Kane and Kim Min-jae.

Between injuries and a lack of rotation, Bayern’s cupboards were scarce by the January transfer window. According to a Sport Bild report (via @iMiaSanMia), two of those transfers will be reversed in the summer of 2025.

Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza, both signed before Max Eberl joined the club, are now both considered failed transfers. Bayern are determined to offload them this summer.

Zaragoza only made seven total appearances for Bayern before being loaned out to Osasuna. It is likely that a decent chunk of his €15M transfer fee can be reimbursed through a sale.

Boey is a different story. His €30M acquisition price will be incredibly difficult to recover, considering he has only made 13 appearances for Bayern over 18 months and has been a major liability on the pitch the entire time.
