The reports of Sane’s extension have now turned sweeter if true.

Bayern Munich have reportedly extended Leroy Sané for a bargain. The news does not stop there. The German winger has also gone on to reject a €25m salary package from Al-Ittihad, the table topper in the Saudi Pro League. Sané’s decision to not only take a pay cut but also reject a big money move to the Oil-Leagues shows a certain determination. To prove himself where he has fallen short of the high standards for a player of his quality.

Leroy Sané has been one of the Bayern winger stock due for a transfer at the end of this season. Kingsley Coman, Sané and Serge Gnabry have done themselves no favours with their performances on the field. Comparing that to the humongous wages paid to the trio, it no longer makes footballing sense to continue in that direction.

A sale was on the cards and to be honest, there hasn’t been much buzz in the market for them. Such scenarios usually lead to offers from the MLS or lately, from Saudi. The Saudi Pro League has poached up players at the end of their careers to add their spark to their league.

Sané is reportedly also been the subject of interest from the middle east. A report by Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) has revealed that Al-Ittihad, the current table leader in the Saudi Pro League had offered a 25m wage package for the German’s services. However, Sane has rejected that offer. He has instead chosen to take a pay cut and stay at Bayern, knowing he may not be the first choice on the wings. That in itself shows a certain determination and drive to redeem himself. Let’s hope it goes well for all parties involved.
