The Harry Kane trophy curse is about to be lifted and Uli Hoeneß is here for it.

Modern football has been peppered with many injustices. From a Bayern Munich perspective, Franck Ribéry losing out to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the 2013 Ballon d’Or as well as the decision to deny Robert Lewandowski the same award in 2020, despite winning six trophies and breaking Gerd Müller’s record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season, come to mind.

In addition to Ribéry and Lewandowski, Bayern have almost inherited another of football’s modern injustices with the signing of Harry Kane. Despite being among the greatest strikers in the last decade, at the age of 31-years-old the Englishman has still not won a major piece of silverware.

However, with an eight point lead on Bayer Leverksuen with just three games left to play, it looks extremely likely that Harry Kane’s title curse is about to be broken, and no one is happier for the prolific striker than one of Bayern’s honorary presidents, Uli Hoeneß.

“I don’t know if it’s already happening, but after last weekend, the likelihood of us doing it has obviously increased significantly. I wasn’t just happy about the win against Heidenheim, but of course—I’m now a friend of St. Pauli—I was also keeping my fingers crossed for St. Pauli to get something against Leverkusen. Hardly any of our players deserves to finally win a title more [than Harry Kane],” said the club legend (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “He’s a player who came from abroad. And yet I still feel like he’s become a true FC Bayern player. He scores a lot of goals, but he also works hard for the team. If we win the title, which I very much hope, then he’ll have truly earned it.”

One victory in the Bundesliga is all that stands in the way of Harry Kane and his elusive piece of silverware, and Bayern will have the chance to secure it as they take on RB Leipzig next weekend.
