Liverpool can clinch the Premier League title at home against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, capping off a stunning first season in charge for head coach Arne Slot.
After Arsenal drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, it delayed Liverpool’s celebrations for a few more days as a loss would have automatically handed the Reds the title. However, due to Arsenal dropping points, it means that Liverpool need just one point at Anfield on Sunday to be crowned Premier League champions.
Providing that Liverpool can get it done, it’s set to be a wild celebration as their previous title success in 2019-20 was impacted by the global pandemic. Now, Liverpool get the chance to win in front of a sold-out Anfield crowd, but even if they do win, the Reds won’t lift the title until May 25.
Liverpool is already major favorites heading into the game, with Tottenham currently 16th in the Premier League table. Liverpool also has nothing else left to play for, after being eliminated from the FA Cup and the Champions League earlier this season.
The Reds missed out on the chance to celebrate a double after losing 2-1 to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, but a Premier League title exceeds the expectations heading into this season. Tottenham, on the other hand, have endured a brutal season domestically, losing 18 times in the league.
Tottenham was also eliminated by Liverpool in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, and lost in the fourth round of the FA Cup to Aston Villa. However, Tottenham has reached the semi-final of the Europa League and could save its season, with the winner automatically earning a spot in next season’s Champions League.

As a result, Tottenham is focusing on European competition and won’t take risks in the Premier League. Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton have already been relegated, making Tottenham’s final Premier League fixtures meaningless other than potentially boosting their league position by a few places.
With Liverpool eager to win the league at home, and Tottenham already concentrating on facing Bodo/Glimt on May 1, the result is expected to go one way. Here, Liverpool.com lists how to watch a potentially historic occasion for the Reds on Sunday.

Early team news
Liverpool has no new fitness concerns ahead of facing Tottenham, with Joe Gomez still the only first-team player nursing an injury. Gomez suffered an injury back but Slot expects him to return before the end of the season.
The main talking point surrounds the right-back position, as Conor Bradley and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both fit, though it’s not clear whether either player will be risked for 90 minutes. Alexander-Arnold replaced Bradley at Leicester before scoring the winning goal, but the latter is still expected to start.
“We are taking very good care of him because he had two injuries that were similar, “Slot said of Bradley. “Let’s wait and see how he does today and tomorrow if he’s able to play, and if he’s able to play if he can make 90.”
Tottenham will again be without star player Son Heung-min due to a foot injury, with head coach Ange Postecoglou confirming his absence on Friday. Radu Dragusin also misses out, but they’re the only two players set to miss the trip to Anfield.
