Tottenham Hotspur have had a terrible campaign.
Ange Postecoglou raised the expectations when he claimed that he always wins trophies in his second season, and that could still happen.
But, Spurs have been really bad in the Premier League. They are currently 16th in the table and are, in many ways, fortunate not to have ended up in a relegation battle.
Many of Tottenham’s players have been really poor this season. World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf has had his say on one of them.
Frank Leboeuf says Son Heung-min has been ‘invisible’ at Tottenham
Son Heung-min has been one of Tottenham’s best players for a number of years.
The South Korean joined Spurs back in 2015, and after a difficult debut season, he started firing for the North Londoners.
Son formed a terrific partnership with Harry Kane, and even after the England captain left, he was Spurs’ best player in the 2023/24 season.
But, in this campaign, Son has looked nothing like his usual self, and that has led to a ton of criticism over the last few months.
On ESPN FC, after Ian Darke included Son in his Flops of the Season list, Leboeuf claimed that he is really concerned about the Tottenham number seven’s performances this season.
The World Cup winner said: “I’m very concerned about Son Heung-min, a player that I rate very highly.
“What he showed when he was playing for the national team and also for Spurs the season before, he showed me that he is a top-notch, world-class player, and he completely disappeared. He didn’t exist this season.
“He wasn’t the skipper that Spurs needed; he had the armband, but he was quite invisible. I’m concerned. He is 32, ok, but I think he still has lots of years to play and show better leadership. Even for himself, be a better football player, as he was before.
“He completely disappeared this season, I don’t know why. I don’t know if it is because of Postecoglou’s tactics, or his teammates, or himself, but I’m very surprised that his level dropped so much compared to other seasons.”

What should Tottenham do with Son?
Son will turn 33 this summer.
The South Korean has been a fantastic servant for Spurs and will definitely go down as a club legend. He will be adored by the fans forever.
But, it is time for Tottenham to plan for life without Son. He just isn’t the player he once was, and it is extremely unlikely that he will be able to turn things around next season after he turns 33.
Keeping Son at the club won’t be the worst idea, but if Tottenham want to go to the next level, they will need someone much better to be starting every week.
Whether Son will accept a bit-part role, however, is anyone’s guess.
