Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer Matheus Cunha a five-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months, as the Red Devils seemingly move closer to a deal for the Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker.
The Brazil international has been in excellent form for Wolves during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 17 goals and registering six in 32 appearances in all competitions, including 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League.
Cunha starred during Wolves’ 3-0 success over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, finding the back of the net before coming up with two assists, and he has been one of the standout players in England’s top flight this term.
Man United’s interest in the 25-year-old is not new; the Red Devils were linked with him during his time at Atletico Madrid, while Arsenal are also believed to be long-term admirers of the Brazilian.
The 20-time English champions are now thought to be in pole position for Cunha, with a meeting between the two clubs allegedly due to take place next week to discuss the possibility of a transfer.

Man United ‘prepare five-year deal’ for Cunha
Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his contract, and it is understood that Man United are willing to pay it in instalments, with the forward also determined to make the move to Old Trafford.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, a move to Man United ‘is getting closer’, with the Red Devils preparing to offer the stopper a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months to take him until June 2031.
“I could say this is a conversation for the end of the season but I have an idea that is clear because we need to do things early,” Man United head coach Amorim told reporters when asked about the Brazilian during his press conference on Friday.
“I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time I will have to comment on every situation. I am focused on this season and even in the next few games could change our plan for next season.”

Cunha: “I love to be here”
Cunha expressed his happiness at Wolves after his standout performance against Leicester on Saturday afternoon.
“We are very committed to this club, everyone, and want to show the fans our capacity. We’re starting to get the points we deserve and show everyone our work,” Cunha told reporters after the clash with Leicester.
“I always say that I am always happy to play for this team. Sometimes my emotion is too much because I love to be here.”
However, privately, it is understood that Cunha is determined to secure a move to Man United this summer, where he would likely operate as one of the number 10s in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
The Red Devils are seemingly set to have a deal in place before the summer transfer window officially opens, allowing Cunha to be involved at the very start of their preparations for what is a huge 2025-26 campaign for the club.
