Real Madrid trio Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rudiger and Dani Ceballos will all allegedly undergo medical tests on Sunday to determine the extent of the problems that they suffered against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.

Mendy was brought back into the starting XI after a lengthy spell out with a muscular injury, but he had to be replaced in the 11th minute of the match due to an injury to his thigh.

Ceballos, meanwhile, was taken off in the early stages of the second period, and the Spaniard appeared to be dealing with discomfort in his ankle when he left the field in El Clasico.

Rudiger’s night ended in more disappointment than just the final score, as he had to be substituted with a knee issue in extra-time, before picking up a late red card following an altercation with the referee.

The Germany international could be facing a lengthy suspension, and he also may be missing in the coming weeks through injury if scans reveal any damage to his knee, which has caused him problems this term.

According to journalist Arancha Rodriguez, all three will have scans on Sunday to determine the extent of the issue.

There was also concern surrounding Vinicius Junior when the Brazil international left the field with a physical problems in the 89th minute, but according to Rodriguez, the attacker only picked up a knock, and he is therefore not facing time on the sidelines.

Real Madrid had three players sent off against Barcelona, with Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez also receiving red cards at the end of what was a thrilling Copa del Rey final, with five goals being scored on the night.

Real Madrid came from behind to lead 2-1 late in normal time, but Ferran Torres made it 2-2, forcing extra-time in the process, before Jules Kounde hit the winner in the 116th minute.

“It was a good game and we competed well. The first half was tougher, but we were better in the second half. We had the game under control, but they played a ball behind our defence for the second goal and the game got more complicated,” Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti told reporters after the match.

“The team was good, we were close to winning, but we have to keep fighting. I have nothing to fault the team for. If we’d won, it wouldn’t have been a scandal because we were better than our opponents in the second half.

“We defended well without trying to get out of the pressure at the beginning. It wasn’t easy because when they have energy they press very well. When they dropped the pace of the pressing we controlled the ball better and in the second half we played very well.

“I’m hurt because we weren’t able to lift the Cup; there’s nothing to criticise because we gave it everything we had.”

Real Madrid will continue their La Liga challenge with a home fixture against Celta Vigo next weekend; Los Blancos are currently second in the La Liga table, four points behind the leaders Barcelona.
