Myles Lewis-Skelly has been a revelation at Arsenal this season.
The teenager came through the ranks at the club’s academy, and everyone knew that he was a special talent. He was always expected to get a chance in the first team this term.
However, not many people would’ve predicted that Lewis-Skelly would become Arsenal’s first-choice left-back this season ahead of more experienced players like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori.
That is how good he has been this season, and Arsenal fans absolutely love him.
How Arsenal fans ‘shocked’ Myles Lewis-Skelly after his goal against Manchester City
Myles Lewis-Skelly has had so many memorable moments this season.
He has become a regular at Arsenal, played in huge Champions League games against teams like Real Madrid, made his England debut and even scored in that game.
Those are a lot of highlights that he will remember forever, but if you were to ask Arsenal fans what their most memorable moment about the youngster is, many of them would point to the game against Manchester City.
Lewis-Skelly scored a brilliant goal against the champions during Arsenal’s 5-1 win and then proceeded to copy Erling Haaland’s celebration at the Emirates.
After that, Arsenal fans in the stadium started singing “49, 49 Lewis-Skelly” to the tune of their famous song about the Invincibles – “49, 49 undefeated!”
Then, Ethan Nwaneri reminded his young teammate that the game against City was the first time Arsenal fans started singing Lewis-Skelly’s name. The left-back replied, in a video on Arsenal’s social channels: “Oh yeah!
“I remember hearing it, it was nice. I didn’t realise I had a chant, so for them to sing it, it kind of shocked me.”
What’s Ethan Nwaneri’s chant at Arsenal?
Ethan Nwaneri is just as big a talent as Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal.
The teenager made his Premier League debut before his good pal, and he has been a household name for quite some time now.
Arsenal fans absolutely adore Nwaneri, and they have a chant for him too – “Ethan Nwaneri, he’s one of our own!”
The attacker revealed in the same video that Arsenal fans sang that for the first time after his brace against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
Both Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly were fantastic in the game and have been getting better and better since.
