Cole Palmer was spotted running through the street after Chelsea’s win over Everton on Saturday. Here’s why.

Saturday lunch-time saw Nicolas Jackson net his first goal since December to see Chelsea earn a 1-0 win over Everton and strengthen their hopes of making next season’s Champions League.

The victory saw Enzo Maresca’s men go ahead of Nottingham Forest and into fifth place in the Premier League, though having played a game more than Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit.

After the game, however, Chelsea attacker Palmer was filmed by supporters running outside Stamford Bridge, donning a black hoodie, with the clip going viral on social media.

Supporters speculated that the England international may have missed the bus which transports players away from Stamford Bridge.

However, according to footage posted to X by @MattDebonoAC, Palmer was actually running to collect a new pair of trainers from a nearby petrol station.

Palmer met Leon Gissing, who supplies footballers with clothes and accessories.

Indeed, Gissing shared his day on social media, which included him landing in London on Saturday, meeting Palmer post-match, and handing him the shoes.

Palmer has registered 14 goals and nine assists this term, but has not scored in the top flight since a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth back in January.

The player is attempting to recapture the form that saw him claim 27 goals and 15 assists in a standout debut year at Chelsea last term.

And despite failing to net against Everton, Chelsea manager Maresca admitted he was happy with Palmer’s performance.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maresca said: “We said many times we don’t have any doubt about players who have struggled at times, like Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Robert Sanchez. It’s when we have to support them even more.

“Hopefully Cole will score soon but his performance today was very good, he sacrificed a lot, he was pressing very well.”
