Ange Postecoglou is at serious risk of losing his job as Tottenham Hotspur boss — after what was a very promising debut season from him at Spurs.

The fact that Daniel Levy could sack Postecoglou even if he wins the Europa League is indicative of how far his stock has plummeted this season — as for the longest time, it seemed like all the Lilywhites were hoping for is to end their trophy-drought.

But Tottenham are working in the background to potentially replace the 59-year-old.

Scott Parker has piqued Tottenham’s interest as a potential shock appointment to replace Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham should replace Ange Postecoglou with Thomas Frank

But the best candidate to replace Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would undoubtedly be Thomas Frank for several reasons.

Perhaps the primary reason why the Brentford boss has a strong chance of succeeding at Spurs is purely due to his track record of improving players — with examples such as Yoane Wissa and Mikkel Damsgaard coming to light — who have gone from being key squad players to Premier League stars.

Daniel Levy is known to be quite frugal in the transfer market and if he did appoint Thomas Frank, the Dane would be the best candidate to improve what remains a quality group of players.

Even Claude Littner recommended Tottenham to appoint Frank and one area where he could provide a significant upgrade to Ange Postecoglou is in terms of his tactical flexibility — which is a facet of the latter’s approach to management that has been slated the most during his time in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank has shown a tactical adaptability since day one in the Premier League, changing his possession-dominant approach to a more direct and physically imposing style upon gaining promotion and blending both styles of play since then.

While Pep Guardiola adores Scott Parker’s brave tactics, his previous stints in the Premier League have seen him stay true to an expansive style of play while there are question marks over whether Andoni Iraola’s approach would scale up to a big club — considering Bournemouth’s best work is on the break.

Having been a success in the Premier League since coming up from the Championship in 2021, the 51-year-old has plenty of experience in the English top-flight as well and he could change Spurs’ fortunes.

How much would Spurs have to pay to appoint Thomas Frank?

Pep Guardiola lauded Thomas Frank as “one of the best” managers around in September, which is good news for Tottenham if they step up their efforts to appoint him.

Guardiola said via BBC Sport: “They are an extraordinary team. What they do always makes sense.”

“Every corner is a headache. They are compact. This season, they have a high press. Thomas is one of the best.”

Guardiola also tipped Frank to manage a big club, saying: “It is just a question of time. I’m good in a few things, one of which is reading when the manager is good. It is going to happen.”

TBR Football revealed in January that Tottenham must pay £9 million to hire Thomas Frank as that is the value of his release clause.

Johan Lange is understood to be close to Frank, having held talks with him at Aston Villa as well and whether he deems the figure to be worth shelling out will be intriguing to see.
