Arsenal have sporadically been linked with a move for Bournemouth winger Antonine Semenyo this summer.

Since Andrea Berta’s arrival in north London, Arsenal are thought to be intensifying their efforts to recruit a new winger, an area that the Italian has earmarked for improvement.

And following his remarkable season at Bournemouth, Arsenal are interested in Semenyo according to reports.

Following his goal against Manchester United on Sunday in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw in the Premier League, the 25-year-old has now netted 11 goals in 38 games in all competitions.

And along with registering six assists, the Ghana international has earned plenty of admiration from top clubs in England, a versatile forward who is an excellent ball-striker.

That being said, Semenyo actually made a comment about playing Arsenal next weekend when speaking to Sky Sports after Bournemouth’s draw with United.

Semenyo initially spoke about the game itself, one that was decided by a controversial Evanlison red card.

And then ahead of facing Arsenal at the Emirates in their pursuit of European football, Semenyo said his side were ‘confident’.

He said: “It’s frustrating. We dominated most of the game. We went down to 10 men but I felt we were still quite comfortable. We defended so well. The goal we conceded is so frustrating. It feels like a loss, to be honest.

“I feel like there wasn’t much more we could do. All we could do was defend as a group and hope not to concede. We’re just unfortunate to concede with the last shot they had.

“The teams above us can lose next week and we can go above them. We just have to go on to next week. We have a tough game [against Arsenal], but the boys will be confident enough going to the Emirates.

“It’s not getting easier, but I have full belief in the team that we can do something.”

Bournemouth will sense an opportunity at Arsenal

Of course, with Liverpool clinching the Premier League title against Spurs, it remains to be seen what kind of team Mikel Arteta will eventually field against Bournemouth.

As Semenyo mentions, Bournemouth will be hugely motivated to win on their trip to N5.

And whilst Arsenal still need important points to confirm second place — Arteta’s main focus will understandably be on the club’s Champions League campaign.

Arteta has some important selection calls against Paris Saint-Germain, mostly because Thomas Partey is suspended for the first leg of the tie.

A difficult few weeks for Arsenal, and Bournemouth will sense an opportunity when they head to north London.
