Barcelona lineup vs. Inter Milan: Predicted XI for Champions League semi-final first leg, as Lewandowski sits out again

Still seeking an historic quadruple, Barcelona play the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Inter Milan on Wednesday, when the teams convene at Montjuic.

Barca could be without star striker Robert Lewandowski for both legs, due to a hamstring injury suffered against Celta Vigo earlier this month, so Ferran Torres is again set to feature up front.

As in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final win over Real Madrid, he will be supported by Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha across the final third.

The latter has been directly involved in 26 Champions League goals to date – in just 24 appearances – and only two men have ever posted more goal contributions through their first 25 matches: Erling Haaland (36) and Luis Suarez (28).

In midfield, influential playmaker Pedri – who scored Barca’s opener in the Spanish cup final – should join forces with Frenkie de Jong, though Gavi is another option.

Meanwhile, in defence, Hansi Flick hopes to have first choice left-back Alejandro Balde available following a layoff, but should he fail to return in time then Gerard Martin would continue to deputise.

Number one goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was named in the squad last weekend, having been sidelined since September, but Wojciech Szczesny – who has kept clean sheets in half of his 26 games for the club so far – is set to start on Wednesday.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres
