Liverpool thrashed Tottenham 5-1 to clinch the Premier League title in style on Sunday night.
Dominic Solanke gave Spurs an early lead in an attempt to spoil the party at Anfield, but the advantage was short-lived as Luis Diaz quickly hit back to level the scores.
Alexis Mac Allister then produced a stunning strike to put Liverpool ahead, before Cody Gakpo added a third just before half-time. The second half saw Mohamed Salah get the goal he deserved, before a Djed Spence own-goal rounded off the 5-1 rout.
It was fitting for the Egyptian to get on the scoresheet, given how instrumental he has been in Liverpool’s title charge this season.
Salah has been in Ballon d’Or winning form, racking up 33 goals and 23 assists in 48 appearances — and Arne Slot might just be the reason behind his sensational numbers.
Mo Salah on playing a different role under Arne Slot
Mo Salah enjoyed his best season in a Liverpool shirt, producing outrageous numbers that helped the club propel towards Premier League glory.
As revealed by the player himself, all of that is attributed to a tweak in his role.
Speaking after the game, the Egyptian superstar praised the impact Slot has made since coming in.
He explained how his role under Slot sees him defend less and focus more on the attacking part to his game compared to his role under Jurgen Klopp, who demanded that all his players put in an intense defensive shift as well.
He told Sky Sports: “You can see the numbers. Now I don’t have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said ‘as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively’, so I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.
“When you play in the Premier League you have to defend but I said that I can gamble and somehow I can make a difference. My number of assists shows that, you can create chances as well.”
Mo Salah stats under ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
This is not to suggest that Salah did not thrive under Jurgen Klopp. In fact, he was one of Klopp’s most important players at Anfield.
Salah won three Premier League Golden Boots under Jurgen Klopp, as well as two PFA Player of the Year Awards, scoring an incredible 211 goals and assisting 93 in 349 games.

Things did get a bit techy between the two in the last couple of season, with Salah and Klopp involved in a touchline bust-up against West Ham last year.
But the pair continue to enjoy a great relationship even after the German’s departure. Salah revealed how he is closer to Klopp now than he ever was in a recent interview.
