A professional lip reader has revealed what they think was said during a conversation between Liverpool owner John W. Henry and Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sunday.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, started during yesterday’s Premier League title-clinching 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
And the Liverpool right-back was in amongst the celebrations on a jubilant day for the red side of Merseyside as they equalled Manchester United’s 20 English top-flight titles.
The 26-year-old did not speak to the media outlets gathered inside the stadium, but he did take to social media on Monday morning (April 28) and posted several photographs of himself and his teammates, accompanied by the caption: “For the City. For the Fans.”
Also on Monday, his brother Marcell posted what some fans think was a cryptic story to his Instagram account.
To add to the drama surrounding Trent’s future, the Liverpool academy graduate was spotted speaking to the club’s co-owner, Henry, 75, during the celebrations.
But what were the pair conversing about?
Well, it is not totally clear, but according to investigative and forensic lipreader Nicola Hickling, who spoke to OLBG, Henry was supposedly telling the player to do the right thing.
Henry purportedly said: “You’ve been quiet. How did you get on?”
To which Alexander-Arnold replied: “Being sensible.”
The 75-year-old added: “I want you to do the right thing.”
The defender answered and said: “Yeah, yeah.”
Henry continued: “Best way and don’t panic.”
Trent questioned: “Should I decide?”
The American then nodded very slowly and exclaimed: “Absolutely,” before he turned and said: “Let them know.”
Alexander-Arnold then nodded in agreement.
It must be considered that it is unclear exactly what was said during the conversation.
Will Trent Alexander-Arnold stay at Liverpool?
Where the England international will be playing his football next season is still unclear.
Despite returning from injury and scoring an important goal in the 1-0 win against Leicester in recent weeks, most reports still suggest that the Liverpudlian will move to Real Madrid upon the expiration of his contract on June 30.
On April 24, journalist Fabrizio Romano issued an update, he said: “The situation is still exactly the same between Trent, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. The deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is at the final stages, just waiting for the final stages. Just waiting to sign the contracts, just waiting for all the documents.”
But one thing is for sure, between now and the end of the season his future will be one of the most spoken about topics in English football given the fact both the title race and relegation battle have already been decided.
What has Trent Alexander-Arnold said about his future?
Alexander-Arnold has been fairly tight-lipped about his future for most of the season.
However, on April 20 he was directly asked if he was going to leave Liverpool by Sky Sports’ Patrick Davidson, to which the right-back replied: “Look, obviously, like I’ve said all season, I am not going to speak on my situation, I am not going to go into details but these days like today are always special: scoring goals, winning games, being close to winning titles and being in title races, they are special moments that will live for me forever. I am glad to be a part of them.”
