On the side of the club store in L4 and near the tunnel area inside the stadium, the Reds have a reminder of the silverware they have picked up in the past. And neither number was out of date for too long.

On its official social media accounts, Liverpool posted a picture of what the updated boards look like. Now level with Manchester United on 20 top-flight titles, the Reds will hope to go again next season and retain their champion status.

“It has been an amazing Premier League season for us, very consistent, well-deserved winners,” Virgil van Dijk said in a press conference. “The reaction we showed after going 1-0 down today was outstanding.

“Obviously it was a very emotional game. The time goes very slow towards the end, by the way! But I’m glad we got the job done and now we — and I speak about obviously everyone who is Liverpool-connected — can enjoy and celebrate because that’s what you should do as well.

“In my opinion, the hardest league in the world. If you have an opportunity to win it, [on] what was a glorious day in terms of the atmosphere, the weather, a good opponent — it was incredible to be part of. The manager touched on it already on the pitch, that we have got two titles in five years, so that’s a big achievement in my opinion.”

Liverpool still has four games remaining this season. It will play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend and then host Arsenal, when Mikel Arteta’s side will have to give the Reds a guard of honor.

Slot’s men will travel to Brighton for the penultimate match of the campaign before finishing at home to Crystal Palace. After the final home game of the season, Virgil van Dijk will lift the Premier League trophy.

Liverpool.com says: The Reds have to celebrate this title for as long as they can, but looking a little further ahead, they will be the favorite to go all the way next season too. Manchester City and Arsenal will be chasing it down, but Liverpool is starting from a more advanced point. Slot should be plotting how to retain the league — but only after a period to reflect on what he has done so far.
