Liverpool praised for ‘classy gesture’ they did for players following their Premier League title

Liverpool have been praised for a classy step they took to make sure all of their players could enjoy the celebrations for winning the Premier League.

A dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield took Liverpool to 82 points in the Premier League this season, confirming their place as the champions of England for the 20th time.

Immediately after the game, Liverpool players and staff members took to the pitch to celebrate and thank fans in attendance, all while wearing specially made champion 24/25 kits.

But the special kits wasn’t the only thing that Liverpool prepared in anticipation of winning the title, as the club has received massive praise for one gesture they did to ensure everyone could get involved with the celebrations.

As is the case in almost every sport, Liverpool players celebrated the win at Anfield by spraying each other with bottles of champagne, soaking their teammates in the process.

Of course, for some players this would typically not be possible as, due to religious reasons, they can not consume any alcohol, even if it is only a drip that they taste accidentally.

But in order to allow players like star man Mohamed Salah, who is a devout Muslim, to enjoy the iconic champagne spray celebrations, Liverpool ensured that all drinks used by the player were non-alcoholic.

And it’s a good thing they did, as fans noticed that, despite Salah’s protests, Darwin Nunez didn’t hold back as he soaked the Egyptian in the non-alcoholic champagne as they celebrated together on the Anfield pitch.

The pair were also spotted chasing each other around the pitch after Salah appeared to make a comment teasing the Uruguayan forward as he sat with fellow South Americans Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson Becker.

It’s not the first time that Liverpool have made sure that any drinks used for celebrations are strictly non-alocholic, as after ending the 30-year wait for a league title in 2020 season, then-captain Jordan Henderson confirmed that the Reds made sure to respect both Salah and former player Sadio Mane.

“The champagne was non-alcoholic with the trophy lift because of Mo and Sadio,” Henderson told The Times. “Within the dressing rooms there’s none of that [intolerance] so why isn’t that the case in the outside world?”
