Mohamed Salah continued his Premier League celebrations in a low-key fashion on Monday as he was pictured enjoying lunch with his wife at a Cheshire restaurant.

The Liverpool forward, who scored another goal in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Tottenham which clinched the title, spent a couple of hours at San Carlo in Alderley Edge, soaking up the sun on a rare warm day in the north west of England. Salah, 32, and wife Magi, 31, are childhood sweethearts and have two daughters together: Makka, born in 2014, and Kayan, born in 2020.

Cheshire is a popular area for soccer players who play for the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City, and Manchester United to live, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold among the super-rich stars who reside in the county.

Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold and Salah all started on Sunday as Liverpool recorded a thumping victory over Spurs to wrap up the title. Salah scored his 33rd goal of the season and his 28th in the Premier League during the win, and he is almost certain to end the season as the league’s top scorer; Alexander Isak of Newcastle trails the Egyptian by six goals with just four games in the campaign remaining.

Afterwards, Salah said that there was no comparison between the title win in 2020 and this one, in large part due to the presence of supporters inside a packed Anfield.

Liverpool was cantering to the title five years ago when the season was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and when the campaign resumed it did so behind closed doors, denying the club the opportunity to celebrate a first title win in 30 years alongside its supporters.

“It is incredible to win this with our fans,” Salah told Sky Sports after sending Spurs packing. “This is 100 per cent better than last time, especially with the fans. We have a different group now so to show we can do it again is something special.”

This season, Salah set the record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season with 46, and he also has Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s joint record of 47 — from the 42-game 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons — firmly in his sights.

Salah credited a new role under Slot with fewer defensive responsibilities for his uptick in goals and assists. “You can see the numbers,” Salah said. “Now I don’t have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said, ‘as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively.’ So I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.

“When you play in the Premier League you have to defend but I said that I can gamble and somehow I can make a difference. My number of assists shows that, you can create chances as well.”
