Stop it with the onions.

Three more games. That’s it for Thomas Müller’s Bundesliga career for Bayern Munich and only one of them — vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 10th — will be home at the Allianz Arena.

It’s almost surreal for Bayern fans as well as the man himself.

Good-natured as always, Müller roused the crowd warming up well before he was introduced on Saturday during the Bavarians’ 3-0 win over Mainz 05. And when he finally did get on the field late in the game, it was to a standing ovation from the roaring crowd.

After the match, Müller kept his perspective.

Thomas Müller: “You slowly realize that today was the penultimate game [at Allianz Arena]. I don’t feel nostalgic or sad about it, but it’s still kind of strange.. Next year I’ll need a ticket” pic.twitter.com/spocxqcVu6

“It was a crucial victory. After the Champions League exit I expected us to turn in good displays,” Müller said in fuller comments transcribed via FCBayern.com. “We could rely on everyone who played. Everything went according to plan.

“I must thank the fans today. Slowly but surely I’m understanding it was my second-to-last home match. I’m not wistful or sad, but it feels weird.”
