The reason why Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t speak to media following Liverpool title win

Trent Alexander-Arnold did not speak to the media following Liverpool’s Premier League title win on Sunday afternoon – and a reason has been provided.

Liverpool clinched a record-breaking 20th title with a thumping 5-1 win over Spurs at Anfield, coming from a goal down to destroy their opponents and wrap up the league in style with four games to spare in Arne Slot‘s first season.

The Reds won the league in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic meant no fans were in attendance to witness Jordan Henderson lift the Premier League trophy.

This time around there were jubilant scenes in and out of the ground following the triumph, and though the official trophy presentation did not take place – Liverpool players and staff did celebrate with supporters.

Slot and many member of Liverpool’s squad spoke to the media afterwards, with captain Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah giving interviews.

The pair were due to be out of contract in the summer but have committed themselves to the Premier League champions by signing extensions.

However, the renewals leaves Alexander-Arnold as the only key player whose deal is due to expire and the England international has been the constant source of links to Real Madrid.

Even with all the speculation hinting that he is poised to move to the Santiago Bernabeu, Alexander-Arnold has remained silent. And that was the case again on Sunday, with American broadcaster Peacock claiming that they were told he was being kept away from the media and would not be available for any interviews.

What did Trent Alexander-Arnold do after Liverpool’s Premier League title win?

The 26-year-old scored the winner against Leicester last week and even with his future up in the air, he did at least get a special moment with Liverpool supporters.

Fellow academy graduate Curtis Jones pushed him towards the Kop, who proceeded to chant Alexander-Arnold’s name as he took it all in.

Alexander-Arnold applauded the fans and tapped where the badge would have been on his shirt – which was turned the opposite way to show ‘Champions 24/25’ in gold lettering.

Liverpool have four games remaining this season and will lift the trophy on the final day after they host Crystal Palace on May 25.
