Thiago Alcantara has conveyed his congratulations to his former Liverpool teammates with a succinct message following their Premier League triumph. After demolishing Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield, Liverpool clinched the title with four games to spare.
Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all got on the scoresheet for Arne Slot’s squad, while Destiny Udogie’s own goal rounded off a resounding victory. While Liverpool could have added more goals, its dominance was enough to secure the 2024/25 Premier League crown.
Wild celebrations ensued as several past players sent their best, including Thiago. Having departed from Liverpool last summer upon his contract expiry, Thiago took to Instagram to share his sentiments.
He reposted Liverpool’s official announcement of their title victory, captioning it: “Congrats lads [flexed biceps emoji]. YNWA.” Thiago wasn’t alone in celebrating; Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard also expressed his joy on Instagram with a star-eyed emoji.
Gerrard continued to share the euphoria with further Instagram stories showcasing Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and post-match jubilations, which he labeled “special”, signaling a historic 20th title win that puts them on par with Manchester United.
The mood was buoyant for Liverpool head coach Slot after the match. His reaction was one of confidence. “I think even before the game, it was already clear that we couldn’t lose this game,” he said to the crowd.

“The way we arrived here with the bus, everybody on the bus thought there was no way, no way we could lose this game. It was difficult to be 1-0 down, but we always find a way to win. I’m incredibly proud, not only of the players but everybody knows what effort they’ve put in.”
“The people who are standing here, sports directors, my staff members, everyone, we should give them a big round of applause,” he added. “As a player, as a supporter, as a fan, or a staff member. Let’s forget that it’s the second in 35 years. It’s the second in five years.”
Liverpool.com says: Thiago should have won a Premier League title with Liverpool and he would have gone down as a modern great had he managed to stay fit. His technical prowess at the base of the Reds’ midfield was a delight to watch when he was there, and he clearly still has a soft spot for the Anfield side.
