What Trent Alexander-Arnold said to John Henry in secret talks during Liverpool celebrations

Liverpool owner John Henry may have sent a subtle message to Trent Alexander-Arnold over his future during the pair’s conversation on the Anfield pitch on Sunday.

As the Reds celebrated winning the Premier League title – taking them to an historic 20th crown, putting them back level with Manchester United – Alexander-Arnold was spotted speaking with the club’s owner.

The 26-year-old’s future of course remains up in the air as his contract at Anfield ticks down. Speculation has been growing over a move to Real Madrid this summer, and with just four games remaining this season, time is running out for Liverpool to get the academy graduate signed up to a new deal.

The subject of Henry’s conversation with Alexander-Arnold has remained secret, although it has now been suggested that the FSG chief may have addressed the ongoing uncertainty around his future.

Investigative and forensic lipreader Nicola Hickling has given her opinion to OLBG about what the pair said to each other. It’s claimed that Henry began the conversation by saying to Alexander-Arnold: “You’ve been quiet. How did you get on?”

She notes that the right-back nodded in response before replying: “Being sensible.”

Henry then raises his hand, and is claimed to have said: “I want you to do the right thing.”

In response, Alexander-Arnold says: “Yeah, yeah.” Henry then reassures the player, adding: “Best way and don’t panic.”

It’s then suggested that Alexander-Arnold says: “Should I decide?” Henry nods, before replying: “Absolutely.”

The Liverpool owner then turns to the fans, with Hickling claiming he says to Alexander-Arnold: “Let them know.” The Reds star then seems to nod in agreement with the 75-year-old.

Alexander-Arnold is yet to give any indication of what he will be doing this summer, having refused to speak about his future when quizzed about the possibility of signing a new contract last week.

“Look, obviously, like I’ve said all season, I am not going to speak on my situation,” he said after the win over Leicester.

“I am not going to go into details but these days like today are always special: scoring goals, winning games, being close to winning titles and being in title races, they are special moments that will live for me forever. I am glad to be a part of them.”

Alexander-Arnold didn’t speak with the media following Liverpool’s decisive win over Tottenham on Sunday, although he did post a message to supporters on social media.

“For the City. For the Fans,” he wrote. The post was shared on X and Instagram and featured pictures of him with the rest of his teammates, and also alongside left-back Andy Robertson.
