Arsenal are set to get some early summer transfer business done at the end of the season.

Indeed, Arsenal believe they’ve secured the signing of Martin Zubimendi this summer, while another La Liga star is also reportedly headed for the Emirates.

Nico Williams is set to sign for Arsenal according to some, but according to John Cross, speaking on All Out Football, there’s another team that Nico Williams is more keen to sign for.

Williams was strongly linked to Barcelona last summer, and according to Cross, a move to Camp Nou is still the dream for the Spain international.

Nico Williams wants Barcelona move

Cross shared what he knows about Williams.

The journalist says that if all things were equal, Williams would ultimately want to sign for Barcelona.

However, due to the huge finances involved in any deal to sign Williams, Barcelona may not be in this mix due to their ongoing issues behind-the-scenes.

“So I think that that has to be the thing. I think if all things were equal, and basically, you know, he could choose, then I think he’d go to Barcelona. That would just be my, that would be my vibe really,’ Cross said.

But I go back to the fact, it’s a very good competitive transfer fee. Very good. But it’s about getting that package right, I think basically.

And I think that is the biggest issue. Otherwise, honestly, people would have made massive overtures from before now. And basically people have been scared off, I think, about the total package.

Yeah, because once you start to add it all up, you’re probably looking at a deal worth in excess of 100 million once you kind of think about a five-year contract for him on top of that. And it probably would be close to that, wouldn’t it? At 300 grand a week.”

Nico Williams’ record vs Barcelona

Williams would like to sign for Barcelona, and it’s not hard to figure out why he’d be so keen on this move.

The attacker is settled in Spain, and, at the moment Barcelona are the best team in La Liga.

Indeed, Barca are top of the Spanish table, while they’re on the verge of reaching the Champions League final as well.

Williams knows first hand just how good Barcelona are, just look at his record in his career vs La Blaugrana in La Liga.

Barcelona is a dream move for Williams, but, unfortunately, dreams don’t always become a reality, and the Athletic Club star may well have to settle for a move to Arsenal this summer.
