Following their Premier League win, Liverpool will already be putting plans in place to take their success one step further next season.
Arne Slot barely altered Liverpool’s squad last summer — Federico Chiesa was his only signing who joined the squad immediately.
And as a result, there’s a lot of excitement at Anfield about how Slot can continue to take this project forward with the addition of a few star players in his own image.
It remains to be seen where Richard Hughes and his transfer team will target reinforcements, however, Liverpool’s attack does need work.
Chiesa might leave Liverpool after just one season and Darwin Nunez might also depart by a lot of accounts.
And in addition, Luis Diaz is often linked with Barcelona — there could be significant change on Merseyside.
Rodrygo is free to leave Real Madrid
That being said, Liverpool have consistently been linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo in recent years, a world-class winger who any side in Europe would love to sign.
Liverpool reportedly bid £84m for Rodrygo last summer, but that was perhaps when Madrid weren’t willing to sell the Brazilian.

However, following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo’s place in the starting eleven has become a bit more precarious — he’s not a guaranteed starter anymore.
That being said, reputable journalist Josep Pedrerol has now claimed that Madrid would sell Rodrygo this summer.
Speaking on El Chiringuito TV, Pedrerol claimed that Rodrygo wouldn’t stay at Madrid if an offer came in.
He said: “If an offer comes in for Rodrygo, he won’t stay at Real Madrid. He’ll be sold.
“Vinicius will stay, and so will Mbappe. Rodrygo’s case is obvious. He already raised the possibility of leaving in the summer if he didn’t play. He’s played a lot, but he hasn’t performed as expected.
“If an offer comes in, it will be heard, and you will not be held back if you want to leave.”
Should Liverpool bid for Rodrygo this summer?
In terms of Rodrygo’s suitability for Liverpool, it should be noted that the forward has often been touted as Mohamed Salah’s potential replacement.
Of course, Salah will now be staying for the foreseeable future — very welcome news from a Liverpool point of view.
But with Rodrygo still able to operate on the left or centrally, perhaps he would still be a stellar addition.
Liverpool are preparing to offer Ryan Gravenberch a new contract right now as they prepare to continue their Premier League dominance next season.
And perhaps a bid for a player like Rodrygo would be a further show of FSG’s ambition, even if he would cause Slot some positive selection headaches on occasion.
