Liverpool’s party is only just beginning after wrapping up the Premier League title. It won’t be long though until Arne Slot is preparing for the Reds’ defense of their crown next season.
Having now gone level with Manchester United on 20 league titles, there can be no debate about which is the most successful side in England. Liverpool will want to add to their trophy cabinet again next season though, and a busy summer looks to be in store to help facilitate that.
While the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez may be bidding farewell, plenty of new faces have been touted for a move to Anfield – although one of those potential signings may hit an issue if the latest reports are anything to go by.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
Liverpool could face a problem in trying to sign Milos Kerkez this summer, with The Telegraph suggesting Bournemouth’s current valuation of the left-back posing a potential issue. The Reds are said to be reluctant to overpay as they are looking for a player to share the workload with Andy Robertson, rather than replace the Scot in the starting XI.
It is claimed though that Slot will be backed with one of Liverpool’s biggest ever summer transfer budgets. The chances of Alexander Isak joining the Reds though are described as “slim to none”, with Hugo Ekitike seen as a possible alternative, while there will be plenty of competition for Dean Huijsen, who is admired.
Liverpool.com says: As good as Robertson has been over the years, there does need to be a realization from Liverpool that his performances this season have not been at his usual standards, and it needs to be thinking about finding his long-term replacement. Kerkez looks to be the perfect option.
Not only that, but he has shown he is more than ready to become the Reds’ first-choice left-back. Liverpool is right not to want to overpay, but Kerkez should absolutely be one of its biggest priorities this summer.
Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)
Liverpool could make a $69 million offer for Jarrod Bowen this summer, according to Caught Offside. It’s claimed that both the Reds and Tottenham are keen on the West Ham star, with bids from both a possibility.
Bowen has been the subject of plenty of admiration from Liverpool over the years, with Jurgen Klopp even describing him as his favorite player outside of his own squad during his spell in charge at Anfield. West Ham though is said to not be considering selling the 28-year-old.
Liverpool.com says: Bowen might have been an interesting signing a few years ago, especially under Klopp considering how big a fan he was of the player. Now though, at 28, the moment has probably gone for a move to Anfield, with Liverpool needing to look at longer-term options in attack. We can’t see this one happening.
