Could Bayern Munich start this pursuit again?
Back in 2023, rumors began to swirl that Bayern Munich was hot for FC Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo.
Back then, Araújo was likely using Bayern Munich as leverage in trying to get a new deal from the Catalans, while the Bavarians were desperately seeking to bolster their defensive ranks.
Now, well, Bayern Munich is still looking to do that and Araújo might be available per Sport journalist Luiz Miguel Sanz (via @iMiaSanMia):
Ronald Araújo is one of the options Bayern are considering as a potential replacement for Kim Min-jae in addition to the likes of Dean Huijsen and Jonathan Tah. The Uruguayan defender has lost his starting spot under Hansi Flick and could be on the way out this summer. Araújo has a confidential agreement with Barcelona that allows him to leave the club at a fixed price between July 1 and 15. There’s talk of a €65m release clause.
It remains to be seen what Bayern Munich will do on the backline. Josip Stanišić is rumored to be targeted for a fulltime move to center-back, while Hiroki Itō can also play the position. Versatility on the backline is already there, but it seems as if the club wants more depth give this rumor and the recent linked to Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.
