Tottenham have had some amazing players over the years.
Luka Modric is an all-time fooballing great, while Harry Kane was a world class player when he was at Spurs.
Meanwhile, Heung-Min Son is a Premier League great in his own right.
However, perhaps the most talented player to play for Spurs in recent years is Gareth Bale.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, former Tottenham midfielder, Sandro, has named Bale as the best player he’s ever played with.
Sandro noted that he has also played with Ronaldinho, but, in his opinion, Bale is the best he’s ever seen.
Sandro says Gareth Bale is better than Ronaldinho
Sandro shared his verdict on Bale when discussing his former Tottenham teammates.
The Brazilian says Bale is the best player he’s ever played with, even ahead of Barcelona legend, Ronaldinho.
“Aaron Lennon or Kyle Walker, who wins for pace?” Sandro was asked.
“I don’t know, to be fair, back then at Tottenham, I will say Lennon, but of course, after that Kyle Walker has improved his speed and the way he plays,” Sandro said.
“What if I throw into the same question, Gareth Bale?” The host asked.
“Oh, Gareth is first, I would say the way Bale could run with the ball and dribble and score and finish the action, without the ball I don’t know, but with the ball, Bale could dribble, finish the action,” Sandro said.
He’s the best player I played with, the best for club and country. I played with Ronaldinho in friendly matches once or twice, a few games and a few training sessions, but Bale was winning games for us, assists, scoring winning goals, amazing.”
Gareth Bale compared to Ronaldinho
Sandro says Bale is better than Ronaldinho, and that’s a very interesting comparison to make.
Of course, these two players are very different to one another. Ronaldinho was all about tricks, flicks, and turning defenders inside out, while Bale was about pace, power and dominating his opponents physically moreso than anything else.
Interestingly, Bale compared Tanguy Ndombele to Ronaldinho when he was at Tottenham.
Bale and Ronaldinho’s career stats certainly make for interesting reading.
Gareth Bale | Ronaldinho | |
554 | Club games | 593 |
185 | Club goals | 214 |
132 | Club assists | 178 |
111 | International games | 97 |
40 | International goals | 33 |
3 | League titles | 3 |
5 | Champions League wins | 1 |
0 | World Cup wins | 1 |
6th – 2016 | Highest Ballon d’Or ranking | Winner – 2006 |
In terms of legacy, it’s hard to separate these two players.
On one hand, Bale won five Champions League trophies, scoring three goals in finals. Meanwhile, Ronaldinho was a World Cup winner and a Ballon d’Or winner too.
Both men are two of the best attackers of their generations, and according to Sandro, based on what he saw, Bale was the better player.
