Collin Morikawa is a superstar in the world of golf and will go to any means necessary in order to stay at the top.
He is no stranger to trying to gain an advantage. Morikawa recently revealed his iron game needs improvements despite consistently being in contention alongside legends of the game.
However, despite looking for constant improvements, the two-time major winner has not won a PGA Tour event since 2023.
Morikawa’s last win came at the ZOZO Championship, and his winless streak appears to be inspiring him to make some pretty drastic changes.
Colin Morikawa sacks caddy ahead of Truist Championship
It has recently been revealed that Morikawa has parted ways with long-time caddy J.J. Jakovac. Jakovac has been his sole caddy since the golfer made the jump to the pro ranks in 2019 at the RBC Canadian Open.
The shock revelation was first reported by CBS golf commentator and former PGA Tour pro Colt Knost via social media. However, Morikawa himself is yet to comment on the decision.
Jakovac’s time with Morikawa saw the pair win six PGA Tour events, including triumphs at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
Morikawa’s new caddy will be Joe Greiner, a man who has plenty of experience on the bag for many of the world’s best.
Who is Joe Greiner?
Joe Greiner has an expansive career as a caddy on the PGA Tour, with plenty of notable wins to his name. The 38-year-old is a childhood friend of PGA star Max Homa, and first caddied for the American in 2013.
Since 2019, Greiner was Homa’s consistent bag partner up until earlier this year, with Homa deciding to split from his friend in April.
Greiner went on to have a brief stint with Justin Thomas, teaming up with the struggling star to help him lift his first PGA Tour trophy since 2022, with Thomas tasting victory at the RBC Heritage.
Morikawa will be hoping Greiner can have a similar effect on him, as despite extremely consistent golf, the 28-year-old has struggled to push forward on weekends, consistently falling short at the final hurdle.
