The party is likely to continue for the next few weeks for Liverpool fans, although Arne Slot will soon have work to do as the summer transfer window approaches.
Having been confirmed as Premier League champions, the Reds’ work for this season is effectively done with four games remaining. All that’s left is to take in a guard of honor from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, while Slot and Richard Hughes can begin planning for the summer.
Of course, there is still the issue of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future that is yet to be decided. A move to Real Madrid has looked to be in the offing for some time, although the latest reports suggest there could yet be a twist in the tale.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Real Madrid remains “calm” about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s signing this summer, although Spanish outlet Marca does suggest there is a chance he could back out of the move.
It’s reported that a contract is still yet to be signed at the Bernabeu, and while it’s claimed that Alexander-Arnold has been “convinced” about making the move to Madrid, the notion of a U-turn isn’t ruled out.
Los Blancos though view that as “impossible”, with Real still holding out hope that he could feature in this summer’s Club World Cup.
Liverpool.com says: Well, there’s always hope. You’d have to say it still feels like Alexander-Arnold will be leaving for Madrid this summer, even after his celebrations on Sunday.
Surely now, with the title wrapped up, an announcement can’t be far away from the Reds vice-captain. If he continues to leave it any longer, it will leave a bit of a bitter taste should he end up leaving.
Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig)
Liverpool has three strikers lined up as potential replacements for Darwin Nunez, who could be heading to Atletico Madrid this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Joao Pedro, Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko are all touted as options for the Reds. The latter in particular could see the Reds deal another blow to Arsenal after their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, with the RB Leipzig star having been linked with a move to North London.
Liverpool.com says: It feels like it would be worth signing Sesko just to further annoy Arsenal fans at this point! Having said that, out of those three names, Isak would be the preferred option among the majority of fans, although he’s probably the hardest to sign as well.
