Manchester City reportedly face competition from a Premier League rival in the race to sign Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso.
In his two seasons with the Turin giants, Cambiaso has progressed into one of the most sought-after full-backs in European football.
A total of five goals and nine assists have come from 78 appearances in all competitions, the 25-year-old having also earned 13 caps with Italy.
However, since the winter transfer window, it has been widely claimed that Man City are eager to secure the signature of Cambiaso during what is a transitional period for the former Premier League champions.
Previous reports have indicated that Pep Guardiola‘s side are the clear favourites to sign the player during the summer transfer window.

Man City face fight for Cambiaso?
Nevertheless, according to Calciomercato, Liverpool are monitoring the situation given their own issues on the right and left of their backline.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to leave for Real Madrid on a free transfer and a decision needing to be made over Andrew Robertson, the newly-crowned Premier League champions will require at least one new full-back over the coming months.
A player of Cambiaso’s capabilities would fit the bill for Arne Slot, particularly when he could also provide backup in the final third.
Cambiaso possesses a contract at Juventus until the end of 2028-29, leaving Juventus in a strong position if they choose to retain his signature.
That said, the report claims that €45m (£38.28m) will be enough to tempt Juventus into a sale, a far lower fee than they wanted in January.

Does Cambiaso have a preference?
There are obvious pros and cons that come with Man City and Liverpool vying for the same player’s services, yet there has been nothing to indicate that Cambiaso has a preference at this stage.
In theory, he would become a first-choice pick at right-back or left-back for Liverpool, and right-back for Man City with Josko Gvardiol having starred on the left.
The fact that neither Guardiola or Slot use wing-backs limits where they would use Cambiaso. He is currently being used in that role at Juventus.
At this stage, there is potential for other clubs to register an interest, yet they may struggle to see off Man City or Liverpool if they firm up their admiration.
