Turntables and all of that…
With the news breaking on Tuesday that Eric Dier will be leaving Bayern Munich after the season, speculation immediately shifted to who the Bavarians might be able to bring in to help stabilize the center-back group of Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, and maybe Josip Stanišić.
Enter Bayer Leverkusen defender and Germany international Jonathan Tah, at least per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern maintain an interest in Jonathan Tah. The German international is still on Bayern’s list and they’re closely monitoring his situation. Tah has no agreement with Barcelona, but Barça are also still there.
Romano is not the only reporter indicating that Bayern Munich and Tah could be working toward rekindling their courtship from the summer of 2024. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg also had information on the topic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern have been seriously looking into Jonathan Tah again over the past 1-2 weeks and are aware that he has not yet signed with Barcelona.
Dean Huijsen is also high on the list. But in order to sign a center-back for a high fee, a sale would currently be necessary (Kim Min-jae for example). Bayern have other centre-backs on their shortlist.
Things got extremely complicated last summer and it strained the relationship between Tah, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen. With Tah as a free agent this summer, maybe talks will be a bit easier.
