Newcastle are already making transfer plans under Paul Mitchell – Director of Football – nonetheless, with Brentford No.19 Bryan Mbeumo a primary target for the Magpies.

The Cameroon international has enjoyed an incredible 2024/25 campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 33 Premier League appearances.

TBR Football understand Newcastle lead the race to sign Mbeumo – who is valued at £50m – and Thomas Frank has now shared an update on his talisman.

Thomas Frank says Bryan Mbeumo could be sold

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dane said: “I want my best players to stay forever. I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he’s thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don’t know.

“I’ve said many times, we are a selling club, but at the same time we have to reinforce that there are ten clubs in the world who aren’t selling clubs.

“So, of course, if the right price – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open for it, but I’m very happy he’s here, and I’m convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”

“We’re a selling club.”

Mbeumo – who Southampton once bid for – will only have 12 months left on his contract once the season ends.

Manchester United and Arsenal also like Mbeumo – so the Magpies will not have a free run at his signature by any means.

Ultimately, the man from Avallon will leave Brentford in a tough spot unless he signs a new deal soon, as the Bees risk losing him on a free transfer in 2026 unless a sale materialises this summer.
