Exclusive: Aston Villa now ready to sell £17m Unai Emery favourite, talks already held with a replacement

3 Min Read

TBR Football understand Aston Villa are now ready to sell a player who regularly starts under Unai Emery.

The Villans can boast a fantastic squad after a string of successful signings under Monchi – President of Football Operations at Villa Park – so much so that even Leon Bailey was left out of the squad recently, due to the sheer amount of options.

Naturally, having so many stars will attract interest from elsewhere.

TBR Football understand Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City want Jacob Ramsey this summer – who has made 18 starts in the Premier League so far this season.

It remains to be seen what Aston Villa decide to do regarding that situation – although sources have now informed TBR Football that Unai Emery is ready to sell Emiliano Martinez.

Aston Villa and Emiliano Martinez both alerted by Saudi Pro League interest

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told Aston Villa are ready to sell the Argentina international.

We understand the Saudi Pro League are ready to make a bid for Martinez – who Aston Villa signed from Arsenal for £17m back in September 2020 – and the South American himself is keen on the move.

Sources add that Aston Villa are also interested in doing business, and hold a strong relationship with the Saudi Pro League following Jhon Duran’s £64m move to Al-Nassr in January.

TBR Football have also been told that Aston Villa have already opened talks about a deal to sign Espanyol No.1 Joan Garcia to replace Martinez – who is also a target for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta aims to replace Aaron Ramsdale and find a new No.2 for David Raya.

Manchester United also want Joan Garcia

The Olympic Games gold medalist is a popular man heading into the summer transfer window.

After keeping seven clean sheets in 32 appearances so far this season, TBR Football understand Manchester United also want Garcia as both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir struggle to impress under Ruben Amorim.

Therefore, Aston Villa do not have an easy run at securing his signature by any means.
