Tottenham Hotspur might not have had the best of seasons, but there was some good news for the club and fans this week.

Tottenham confirmed that Lucas Bergvall, one of the best young players at the club, has put pen to paper on a new contract at N17.

Spurs announced that Bergvall is now contracted to the club until the summer of 2031, testament to his quality and desire to grow at Tottenham.

Bergvall will now hope to help Spurs take another step closer to the Europa League final when he and his teammates face Bodo/Glimt in their semi-final first leg.

James Maddison, speaking to the press ahead of Thursday’s match, gave his thoughts on Bergvall’s new contract and shared what has impressed him about the player in training.

James Maddison says Lucas Bergvall is now demanding of other Tottenham players in training

Maddison described Bergvall’s new contract at Tottenham as “brilliant for everyone at the club” and said Spurs had done “amazingly well” in their dealings with him.

Maddison also said he has started seeing and hearing Bergvall be demanding of older players in training, testament to his growing confidence.

“He’s a brilliant player and a fantastic talent,” Maddison said, as per football.london.

“Tottenham have done amazingly well to get him to the club and to get him to sign a new contract which is brilliant for everyone at the club.”

Maddison went on to say: “He’s not someone who has come in, got straight into the team and tried to have himself a little bit. He’s kept grounded and he’s actually growing.

“I hear him demanding of other players and I love that. I love that he is in a place where he is confident enough to say to an older player, ‘come on’.

“I think that has obviously come from this season and the experience he has learned. So great future.”

Tottenham fans were buzzing over Bergvall’s new contract, and Robbie Keane and Michel Vorm were also pleased with Bergvall’s new deal.

What Alasdair Gold has noticed about Lucas Bergvall that bodes well for his future

Bergvall is starting to look physically stronger at Tottenham and appears to have bulked up, according to football.london’s Alasdair Gold.

Speaking on Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham in April, Gold claimed: “He’s turning into a big lad as well.

“I watched the footage of the players coming out the tunnel and he is properly bulking up.

“Every time I see him he looks a little bit stronger and stronger and I know Ange said it’s because he keeps following Deki (Kulusevski) in the gym.

“But it’s impacting his play as well, he’s so much stronger on the ball. He’s going to be one of the first names on the team sheet going forward.”

Bergvall is on an incredible upwards trajectory and it’ll be so exciting to see how he continues to develop at Tottenham.
